Be part of an inclusive charity

HI UK is committed to recruiting, developing and ensuring the wellbeing of a diverse workforce. We aim to build an inclusive workplace where colleagues can be their full selves. A diverse and inclusive culture helps encourage innovative thinking, as well as being vital to our mission to support and empower the most vulnerable to have a voice and to build for the future.

We are kind, inclusive and supportive of each other, and we share our energy and enthusiasm as one team. We are ambitious, willing to adapt as things change and open-minded about attempting new things. We value growth and aim to support each other to develop personally and professionally.

Inclusive recruitment process

HI UK is committed to diversity and inclusion. We recognise that discrimination shapes the opportunities that many people have in society and that people have different needs in order to realise their full potential. Addressing this requires organisations to be proactive in creating environments that encourage the inclusion and development of all. Though we still have a long way to go, inclusion is central to our identity at HI UK and we are strongly committed to the continuous work that it requires.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with disabilities and/or from minority ethnic backgrounds to help make us more representative.

HI UK is proud to be a Disability Confident employer with Level 3 accreditation, a designation awarded to employers that are leaders in inclusion. The Disability Confident scheme is a voluntary scheme that aims to help organisations successfully hire and retain people with disabilities or health conditions.

HIUK is also proud to be accredited as a Visibly Better Employer which shows our commitment to creating an inclusive, accessible workplace for blind and partially sighted people.

Candidate selection process

We are committed to ensuring that candidates with disabilities, mental health conditions or long-term health conditions are not at a disadvantage compared to other candidates when applying for a role. If you declare a disability in your application and you meet the minimum requirements for the role, we will guarantee you an interview.  In the event that we receive a high level of applications for a role, we will invite those applicants who best meet the person specification.

Interview process

The interview is an opportunity for us to learn a bit more about you and to talk through your skills and achievements. It is also a chance for you to get to know us better and to help you decide if we are the right organisation for you. Where possible, we will aim to have a representative selection panel, as we believe that diversity of thought and background is important to ensure all candidates can be confident that they are being assessed fairly and on merit alone.

Reasonable adjustments

We welcome any confidential conversations you may want regarding support or reasonable adjustments (i.e. a change or adaptation) that you may need at any stage of your application so that you can be confident that you are presenting yourself as well as possible during the hiring process. Please don’t hesitate to call us on 0870 774 3737 or to email [email protected]
