What is philanthropy and why is it important?

Philanthropy refers to a charitable act that helps the most vulnerable in society. A philanthropist desires to promote the welfare and quality of life of others, for example through generous donations to good causes such as education for vulnerable children. Philanthropy is absolutely vital for achieving the biggest social issues of today, such as the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What is meant by corporate giving?

Corporate giving refers to the donation of some of a company's profits and resources to support social causes such as the world's most vulnerable people. Giving as a company can help achieve strategic objectives, enhance employee engagement and retention, improve company culture and reputation.

Do companies get tax relief on charitable donations?

Yes! Companies are entitled to tax relief for qualifying charitable donations made to charities. The donations are paid gross without the deduction of income tax.

What is a grant-making trust?

Grant-making bodies exist to make make grants to other charities to support projects within their philanthropic objectives and have a real impact on the most vulnerable.

Unrestricted donations can be used where the needs are the greatest. This gives us more flexibility and allow us to respond immediately when an emergency occurs.

What is restricted funding?

We can restricted funding to a specific country, project, theme or crisis, tailored to your philanthropic goals.
