Typhoon Mangkhut threatens to cause serious damage when it makes landfall in the Philippines. Below, three victims of the previous typhoon Haiyan recall how they coped with the tragedy.

HI’s teams are preparing to set out for the northern Philippines where they plan to assist people affected by Mangkhut. The super typhoon, which made landfall last night, has already claimed its first victims.

A hospital supported by humanitarian organisation Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) in Marat al-Numan, 280 kilometres to the north of Damascus, was destroyed in an air strike on Monday 15th February. Seven people were killed in the attack and dozens injured.
