Hit by a bullet, first responder volunteer Zena loses her sight August, 24 2018
During the demonstrations in Gaza, Zena gave first aid to the injured. Until she was hit by a bullet herself. Having lost the use of one eye, it’s Zena who now needs help. HI is providing her with care and psychological support.

New report on cluster munitions finds that 99% of victims are civilians August, 30 2018
Released on 30th August, the 2018 Cluster Munition Monitor report reveals new attacks involving cluster munitions in 2017 in both Syria and Yemen. Shockingly 99% of these casualties were civilians and 65% of all new recorded casualties were in Syria. HI strongly condemns the use of these barbaric weapons and deplores the fact that in 2017 at least 289 people were killed or injured by cluster munitions in a total of eight countries and two territories. Although this figure is lower than in 2016, it remains unacceptable.

Myriam: "I was amputated straight away" November, 14 2018
Myriam lost her leg during bombing raids in Syria. She received first aid before being directly transferred to Jordan. HI provided her with a prosthesis and rehabilitation sessions, and she is now able to walk again.

Heightened tension in Gaza: preventing further casualties and disability risks March, 27 2019
Days before the anniversary of the Great March of Return on 30th March, HI is concerned about growing tension in Gaza in recent weeks. Further violence could lead to a surge in injuries, placing further pressure on already overwhelmed surgical and rehabilitation services. HI is calling on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid violence with potentially disastrous consequences for civilians.

To coincide with the 71st session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), Humanity & Inclusion is calling attention to the fact that women with disabilities around the world are almost ten times more likely to experience sexual violence.

International Parliamentary Appeal to protect civilians from explosive weapons April, 12 2019
The International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) of which Humanity & Inclusion is a founding member has launched an International Parliamentary Appeal calling on politicians including MPs in the UK to urgently support action to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. For Humanity & Inclusion the Appeal will be part of the organisations Stop Bombing Civilians campaign in 2019.

Yemen: Repairing minds and bodies November, 19 2018
17-year-old Salim was injured in a bombing while working in a grocery store near Hudaydah in Yemen. His leg had to be amputated and he was left shocked and anxious. Humanity & Inclusion teams have supported him with rehabilitation care and psychological support.

According to the report Worldwide Investments in Cluster Munitions: A Shared Responsibility released on 3rd December by the non-governmental organisation PAX, investments in cluster munitions have fallen by two thirds since the last report in May 2017.
